Yea...so I dont really do new years resolutions...I do make goals...I wont tell you my goals tho just watch them unfold....ohh I also do predictions....as far as predictions Im gonna predict that 2009 is going to be a great year for rap music (like on some '88 shit) IF everyone thats suppose to drop actually drops...as far as what Im looking for in no particular order:
1. Ricosuave 'Writes of Passage'
Spring 2009...lets just say Im planning something big...
2. Ice The Villain 'currently untitled'
..word on the street the villain of the DMV is cooking up a tape over there...cant wait...
3. Big Boi 'Sir Lucious Leftfoot'
I enjoyed the first 2 singles...cant wait for the rest...I feel like he's gonna go hard because Speakerboxx went hard and he's still underrated...
4.Andre 3000 'untitled'
come on....if this come out...come on...
5. Outkast 'LP'
Yea so Outkast supposed to be puttin out 3 joints....2 solos, 1 group..
6.Jay-Z 'Blueprint 3'
Not really big on the first singles but he always deliver....
7. Eminem...
COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
8. Dr.Dre 'Detox'
Hopefully this sees the light of day..he always go hard...
9. Wale 'debut'
BEEN waitin on Wale....
10. Drake
Drake is the future....
11. Curren$y 'This Aint A Mixtape'

MESSAGE MONDAY: Work, Work, Work
I think the most important thing is to work...work every second of your life..Dont get distracted by playing. In review of '08, I recognized that Lil Wayne was the most popular artist of the year...Yet, at the same time if you review '07 he was probably the most popular. He was the only artist to sell a milli, a milli, a milli in a week this year. Why? Because he worked...Thats my plan this year is to work, work, work..thats the only way to see results..Playing can get you nothing but excitement and trouble...Work can get you EVERYTHING...

DREADLOCK TUESDAY: James Dominic Malone
This dreadlock tuesday goes to James D. Malone...He's a senior psychology major at howard university from San Diego, CA....I remember when I first met him he had almost a crew cut...I believe his decision to grow locs is an extension of his awareness of himself and black ppl....keep locking brother...

MESSAGE MONDAYS: Grown Man Swag...
This transition from young man to grown man has been hard I admit....one of the things is enjoying things grown folks enjoy...for example, 21 & up clubs...Ive been to a few for the experience but I cant say I enjoyed the experience...the thing is, I drink but I dont enjoy it enough to pay 20+ dollars to stand around a bunch of ppl who wont dance with anyone but themselves and amongst friends..the club scene is dying to me but I still rather go to a party where its booty shaking...like 18 and up party...but at the same time 18 years olds are looking younger and younger....you see my dilemna.....another thing grown folks love..bars...i rather stay at the house and drink then go to the bar around folks i dont know and drink...its almost like i cant embrace being grown...but I must say we must learn to transition or rather camouflage...I enjoy getting my 'grown man' dress on...and I enjoy comedy clubs, lounges, and museums and things of that nature...places where ppl dont tend to act bougie....so maybe there is hope for me to get my grown man on...thats my message find a way to get your grown man on because you will have to learn...

MESSAGE MODAYS: Ride Together, Dont Carry
...so my friends and I were discussing football and got to the topic of players and their mishaps..it got back to Pacman Jones...now I know alot of ppl that know Pacman personally and I remember him in high school because he attended my rival high school. He was a senior when I was a freshman in highschool....anyways, we realized that alot of his troubles in the nfl came from the fact that he still hangs with the same ppl he grew up with. NOW NOW NOW...Im not saying when you get rich and famous or successful you should leave yor friends behind...Im saying dont let anyone latch on to you..let loose of the ones who dont have the desire fo forward movement in their life like you....
Now alot of my peers are graduating and/or getting into their lifelong careers...I suggest you evaluate the friends that stay with you....I did...This what I did...I asked my each of my friends if I was to win the lotto tomorrow what would they want....some said useless things like cars, clothes, money for them to waste..those arent the friends I need because they are looking for handouts in life..I cant benefit from them, and if you cant benefit you can only be brought down....the other friends said things thatll benefit their future and the careers they wanted to go in...like houses, buy them a business, give them money to invest or pay off school.....those are the friends you need because they are looking to gain from you what can help get to their level...and likewise, you can benefit from them...they are their to ride with you and not be carried....some friends I can ride with

Who's Your Top 5???
SOOOO...this post is long overdue....anyways, Ive peeped on allhiphop.com that theyre asking artists to name their PERSONAL top 5 rappers as far as whom that artist feels are the best, most relatable to them, and etc...not the cliche' top 5....It made me think who is in my top 5...EVERYONE who has ever discussed rap has had this discussion and these are my picks....
5. Lauryn Hill
I know alot of you may find this as a weird choice because youve never heard Lauryn mentioned in top 5 MCs ever...but i feel like she is...HANDS DOWN, I would put her up toe to toe with just about 97% of the rappers i ve heard in my lifetime..her diction, delivery and wide vocabulary made her a standout whenever the Fugees rhymed and she also had the ability to drop science underneath it all. It also gave her flavor in between the soulful singing in her solo career. Her only problem is the miniscule amount of rap verses she provided. If anything I learned to use a wide array of vocabulary from her...
My personal fave of her rhyming: 'Mystery of Iniquity' off Unplugged 2.0
4. Cee-Lo
This guy here has been criminally underrated more than any rapper I know. He can straight out rap. His flow is unbelievable and he has a knack for preaching without sounding preachy. I believe his 2nd solo album 'Cee-lo Green....is the Soul Machine' is a MUTHAFUCKIN CLASSIC!!! Better than alot of 5 mics..really..it displays just about every flow and type of subject matter in rap andstill went thru fluently. He is what made Goodie Mob. Honestly, he is (if not the best) the second best in Dungeon Family. He helped build the definition of Down South music to me. Its soooo ATL. His only flaw was the ability to crossover...Alot of what im trying to get from him is his control of his high pitched voice..I too have a high pitch voice and can only dream of using it like he does..and his ability to drop knowledge...
My personal fave of his rhyming: 'The Experience' off Goodie Mob's Still Standing
3. Notorious B.I.G.
He probably had one of the top 3 voices in hip hop. It just grabs you. His lyrical prowess was unmatched yet, he still had the ability to crossover. I think he's one of the first to really show a great sense of 'swagger' in the game. Im trying to learn how he kept himself while he played the mainstream and underground fence...
My personal fave of his rhyming: 'Dead Wrong'
2. Jay-Z
Come on....Swagger? Check. Lyrics? Check. Flow? Check. Relateability? Check. This man has it all.....even the baddest chick in the game wearing his chain. he has dropped so many gems and mottos to live by. If I could take anything it would be his flow...only reason why he wouldnt be my number one is because he has been lazy on some verses...but he's put out enough material to almost cross those out...
My personal fave of his rhyming: 'Can i Live' off Reasonable Doubt
1. Andre 3000
This man is what I think rap should be. Unique. Creative. Lyrical. Swagger. Intelligent. Fun. Everything...Alot of my peers may argue that he's not relateable and that he's too weird or goes too far left. I beg to differ. I know way more people who are what he describes in his songs than I know who are gangsta gangsta. He's an average joe. His writing ability is unparalled. metaphors unheard of. Flow is so smooth and always on point. Idol. I once heard Jigga said that he was just trying to play Aristotle to Big's Socrates. Just trying to keep the BK, NY respect and philosophy in the game at a kingly matter such as big did. Thats how i feel about Andre. I want to play Aristotle to Dre's Socrates. Alot of rappers from ATL not holding the standards this man put upon my city...thats what I want to take from him..everything in my own way....
My personal fave of his rhyming: 'Babylon' from ATLiens....
Thats my PERSONAL fave...if you reading answer with your personal fave and why...I like to see where ppl heads at as far as influences and whom they think are the top and what makes them the top....post...

DREADLOCK TUESDAY: Anthony Poole
Todays dreadlock tuesday goes to my FAVORITE rapper with dreadlocks as of now...and yes I am aware of Wayne's dreads (tells you how I feel about Wayne huh.) When I first met Anthony, or rather Ice The Villain, he had braids if I remember correctly...so i think it was a natural transition.....speaking of transitions (or words that sound like transitions) peep this joint he and I did together:

MESSAGE MONDAYS: Tenacity
The key to getting what you want out of life isnt extreme talent. No!!! Not at all...its hard work, preserverance, and tenacity...how do you think that unattractive guy got that gorgeous girl?? He stuck around..how do you think these rappers you feel are talent-less made it?? they kept going hard....tenacity will take you anywhere...talent means nothing...

MESSAGE MONDAYS: Important Convo
Okay, this is going to be short and sweet....in the hood, dorms, and just about anywhere you can find young people probably one of the most popular conversations, if not the most popular, is about rap skills. Now everytime kids discuss this ppl always say its an irrevelant subject. I beg to differ. Its similiar to old women and their book clubs. Besides discussing rappers and their skills is concurrent with discussing current events, history, literary devices, relevance, etc. So let me be the first to say talkin about rap is an important convo. The End.
p.s. Kanye's album drops today...Im not a fan of this album I admit, but it does feature what i believe to be the greatest song Kanye has ever did..check out streetlights

MESSAGE MONDAY: Keep it to yourself...
Okay, for today's message Ima say sometimes you have to keep things to yourself. I know you all thinking thats random but let me explain....
I believe sometimes we mess up opportunities by spilling the beans on it to early...examples...
1.Potential mate...Say you like someone and you see them smile at you or wave at you...or if youre in the beginning of the 'talking' stations with someone.....dont run back telling all your friends..telling your friends give them false hope and make you look into something more than you shouldve...causing you to try to speed up the process or act funny around someone...and end up messing up an opportunity...while your friends keep asking about them because they thought you were further along with that person then you were...
2. Career move...dont let on to career advances unless its already signed and sealed...i'll give an example of me..last year I ran into Andre 3000 at a vegetarian spot on the Southside of ATL..I freestyled for him, he liked it, and since I didnt have a demo on me he told me to give my demo to the owner of the spot because they were cool and he would pick it up...now I did that but Dre never got it because he was out of town for months..I think it was during the time he was filming the movie with Will Ferrell...anyways, I was so excited tho I told like every one I knew...it was out of pure excitement but in retrospect I was falsely implying that I was about to be Andre's protege' and I was ashureshot to be put on...giving my friends false hope that they shouldnt have ever had....
there are other examples but basically my message to yall is to learn to keep it to yourself...

DREADLOCK TUESDAYS: My fave locs....
Okay I told you for the first dreadlock tuesday Im posting my all-time fave male and my all-time fave female with locks....well here they are....
Fave male:
BOB MARLEY
No one has popularized the dreadlock style in the Western hemisphere more than this man and the rastafarian movement of his native Jamaica. His locks were a symbol of his spirituality and it will forever be attached to his music and the love he ws trying to spread.
Fave female:
ASSATA SHAKUR
She is one of the most strong willed as well as one of the most beautiful woman to grace this earth. Her story is a remarkable story stapled in American history. I can only believe that her choice to grow her locks were an extension of 'the cause' and grounded in her love of anything Africana.

MESSAGE MONDAYS: World On Our Shoulders
...okay..I wanted to make a vlog..and I shouldve posted earlier but anyway...
I know everyone is still beaming off the fact that our president is black (or rather mulatto.) Yet, I think black people are taking this the wrong way in a couple of ways...'
1. I think there are a lot of black ppl whom feel like things will be easier and they wont have to work hard JUST because our presidents black...WRONG!!! What you fail to realize is a black president deletes every excuse a black person has for not working hard. The whole thing of affirmative action goes out the window because how are you going to say that a job is being racist by not hiring you when the country this job is located in had hired a black man for the highest position in the land?? Also, you know how black ppl tend to model some of their actions because 'white folks' do it?? You know, like use white folks tendencies as an example when theyre trying to do better as far as raising kids, work, school, interviews, etc...well, that comes from belief that white folks worked hard to be successful so we had to watch them to get successful..Well, with a black man as president, the black man will begin to be looked at as a symbol of success. So our actions will be closely watched because other ethnicities want to see how we made it to the highest position. Therefore, we have to work harder to lead those who are watching us...
2. I also think ppl believe a black man as our president is our savior. Like all we have to do was vote the savior in and watch him perform his black magic. What they fail to realize is in order for the country to get back to a good place is for everyone to change and for everyone to put focus on the better good of the country. Obama cant do it alone....remember his motto was 'Yes We Can!' not 'Yes I Can'...also, know that he's not a savior so there will not be an immediate change..as drastic as the state of our country is there will be a gradual change if change is to happen...not an immediate one...
Keep this in mind, my obamas...
(P.s. no more calling ppl 'my niggas' or saying 'wassup nigga' or 'that nigga..' Dipset tryna start a new movement by replacing the phrase 'nigga' with 'Obama'..I, myself dont use the word nigga except when explaining why I hate the word. Yet, I dig the movement...I mean its silly but its better than the 'no homo' movements and rockstar look movements Dipset started...so yea...All my obamas get with it ya digg....)
